History of the Department:
The Chemistry Department holds a prominent role within our institute as the largest department in the college. Established in 1992, it has consistently focused on providing quality chemical education and addressing the diverse needs of the nation. Over the past 32 years, the department has successfully produced hundreds of chemists, educators, and researchers who contribute significantly to the nation’s welfare. In response to changing educational demands, the department launched M.Sc. programs in Analytical Chemistry and established a recognized research center affiliated with Shivaji University Kolhapur in 2012. In 2023, the department adopted the National Education Policy (NEP) for both undergraduate and postgraduate students, integrating various components such as SEC, VEC, IKS, RM, RP, and OJT into the curriculum. The department also hosts a recognized Research Centre in Chemistry, where many researchers have pursued their Ph.D. studies under faculty supervision. Our faculty members are actively involved in research across multiple fields, with numerous publications in esteemed national and international journals. Additionally, the department has successfully organized Vidnyan Vahini Programs, as well as national, state, and regional workshops and seminars, which further enhance academic engagement. Many faculty members have also completed both minor and major research projects, significantly advancing knowledge in the field of chemistry.
